I'm always stoked when Beartooth comes to town, because I know I'll see a high-energy, kick-ass show. I had high expectations for Friday's nearly sold-out show in the Egyptian Room at Old Natioal Centre, and I was not disappointed.

Frontman Caleb Shomo’s distinctive vocals were strong and polished. A true performer, he danced, jumped, and twirled, enticing the crowd to sing, dance, surf and mosh to their hearts' content. Although he didn't talk a lot between songs, Schlomo expressed gratitute for the fans' support multiple times, along with love for Indianapolis. Schlomo had great rapport with the crowd, continually smiling at, singing to, and making direct eye contact with fans in the audience.

Guitarists Zach Houston and Will Deely, bassist Oshie Bichar, and drummer Connor Denis were tight throughout the 15-song set. Their passion and energy came through loud and clear as they skillfully navigated the blend of metal, punk, and pop that makes up Beartooth's hard-to-define style. (Which is a mix I happen to love!)

The set started strong, with the hugely popular "Might Love Myself." Beartooth also included fan-favorites such as "Disease," "In Between, "The Past is Dead," and "Bad Listener." One of the highlights was Beartooth's new single, "Free," which was released that day. The night ended with a favorite sing-along, "Riptide." The fans in the still-packed Egyptian room clamored for more, but Beartooth was done for the evening. We all hope they'll be back soon!

Beartooth will be busy touring North America through the rest of March in support of Bad Omens. For more info on Beartooth, including upcoming tour dates, click here:
