Silly Goose is a band that doesn't fit neatly into any boxes. The Atlanta-based group identifies as rap-rock/nu-metal, but their music also leans into hip-hop and grunge. I had heard great things about their live show from friends who are huge fans, so I was excited to see what they brought to the stage on Friday night in support of Beartooth at Egyptian Room at Old National Centre in Indianapolis.

Simply put, Silly Goose's energy was off the hook. Lead singer Jackson Foster, despite having a cold all week, sang his heart out to the packed house. Drummer Alan Benikhis was mericless on the skins. Guitarist Ian Binion and the band's touring bassist ripped through riffs like chainsaws through butter.

The fans, many of whom had just seen Silly Goose in December at Indianapolis' Hoosier Dome all-ages club, ate up every minute of the show. The crowd surfing was nearly non-stop - except when circle pits were happening or Foster was crowd walking.

What makes Silly Goose's fans so fanatical? Maybe it's the relatable lyrics. Maybe it's the hard-driving beat. Maybe it's the "f*ck you" attitude. Or maybe it's the way they treat their fans. Whatever it is, there's nothing silly about this band - they are a force to be reckoned with, and they deserve your attention.
