Earth, Wind & Fire at Ruoff Music Center on 07/08/22 Photos and review by Laura Fox (LLFoxphotos)

After selling over 90 million albums, as well as receiving multiple Grammys, a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, a spot in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and dozens of other awards, Earth, Wind & Fire (EWF) could just rest on their laurels. But they don’t. They continue making music and bringing their funky, danceable soul-pop to audiences around the world.

Their stop in Noblesville, Indiana Friday night was part of the “Miraculous Supernatural 2022 Tour: Santana + Earth, Wind & Fire” tour. EWF, which is known for their flashy outfits, smooth dance moves, and brilliant musicianship, demonstrated why they’ve earned so many accolades and loyal fans over the past 50+ years. As they walked out on the stage clapping in unison to establish the beat for “Shining Star,” their stage presence and huge smiles set the mood for a great show.

EWF’s 21-song set consisted of all their biggest hits, including one of my faves, the cover of The Beatles’ “Got to Get You Into My Life.” I was a little disappointed they didn’t play their latest single, “You Want My Love,” but the quality of the performance more than made up for it. The vocals, keys, percussion, guitar and bass were strong, and the horns were bright and brassy – just the way they should be. Although it was my first time seeing EWF, you can bet it won’t be my last.

Although the 2022 tour schedule has been shifted around due to Carlos Santana’s ongoing recovery from heat exhaustion, no dates have been completely cancelled yet. For up-to-date information, be sure to check the linksbelow, along with your local venue’s website or social media.
