Mazie at the Deluxe at Old National Centre December 6, 2021

I had my first Mazie experience Monday night, and I’m still trying to get my head around it. The alt/pop artist warmed up a very receptive crowd in Indianapolis before COIN’s Rainbow Dreamland show with her completely unique style of music. If I had to define it, I would maybe call it bubble-gum-psychedelic-dissonance. Her stage presence and dancing read “cute,” but her lyrics and backgrounds were most definitely “I don’t give a f*** whether you like me.” With song like “dumb dumb” and “no friends,” Mazie turns pop music on its head and gives it a kick with rhinestone-encrusted boots. Her live show is one I hope to see again, very soon!
