Despite it being a busy Indy 500 weekend in Indianapolis, fans showed up in droves for the Primus, Puscifer, and A Perfect Circle Sessanta V. 2-0.0 Tour, the opening concert for the 2025 season at Ruoff Music Center in Noblesville.

If you’re a fan of Maynard James Keenan, you already know Sessanta (which means 60 in Italian) is the 60th-birthday celebration of the Tool/A Perfect Circle/Puscifer frontman. Although you might think it could have turned into the Maynard James Keenan Show, the caliber of and synergy between all the musicians on this tour made it a showcase of mesmerising avant-rock.

Like Keenan himself, a Sessanta V 2.0 performance is complicated and unconventional. Instead of having a headliner following two supporting acts or even two co-headliners following a supporting act, this tour features three co-headliners who stay on stage for the whole show and trade places every three or four songs. It’s cool concept in a couple of few different ways:

1) It keeps the fans in their seats for the whole show, and

2) there’s virtually no change-over time between bands

It also makes perfect sense for this tour because it allows the artists to easily join in on each other’s sets, which they did frequently.

As I took my seat Saturday night, I realized that 75-80 percent of the fans were dudes, which made it a little difficult for my little 5’1” self to see! But I managed to maneuver to a good spot, and it was a show worth watching, to be sure.

Puscifer’s and A Perfect Circle’s music is serious and though-provoking stuff, while Primus’ is more light-hearted. The lighting was simple yet dramatic, matching the moods of the songs perfectly. The graphics on the big screen were mostly filtered, trippy overlapping live shots that added to the overall dreamy feel of the show.

The Sessanta show in Noblesville included 31 songs that showcased the best of all three bands. Unlike a lot of the shows I cover, there was no head-banging or jumping around on stage. There were, however, treats and shenanigans I’m not going to spoil for anyone. The crowd was entranced the whole time, and nearly everyone stayed through the end.

Be aware that if you go to Sessanta V 2.0 (which I highly recommend), you will not be allowed to use your phone or other devices to take photos/videos during the show. That’s a rule Keenan and the tour take very seriously. I don’t know if they actually ejected anyone at Ruoff, but you do run that risk if you try it. If everyone behaves, however, you can bring them out for the last song, which features all three bands performing together for an amazing version of Puscifer’s “Grand Canyon.”
