Bear Hands The Egyptian Room at Old National Centre Indianapolis 11 09 19
If you’re into the alt-rock scene at all, you already know who Bear Hands are. If you’re not, you owe it to yourself to check them out. These guys from Brooklyn put on an outstanding show in support of X Ambassadors at the Egyptian Room at Old National Centre last Saturday night. They opened with the catchy, synth-y “ Back Seat Driver (Spirit Guide), and played a musically diverse 11-song set that alternated between songs from their latest album, “Fake Tunes,” and their older

Vérité The Egyptian Room at Old National Centre Indianapolis 11 09 19
Vérité is French for “truth.” It’s also stage name of a very talented singer-songwriter from New York, Kelsey Regina Byrne. Currently on tour in support of X Ambassadors, Vérité made her first appearance in Indianapolis last Sunday at the Egyptian Room at Old National Centre. The 29-year-old from Brooklyn was poised and confident as she took the stage. Her voice was sweet and breathy, and the sound and vibe were alt-pop/electropop. Vérité’s lyrics and body language, however,

X Ambassadors Shine Brightly on Orion Tour The Egyptian Room at Old National Centre Indianapolis 11
You know how movies are sometime described as “The Feel-Good Hit of the Year?” That’s exactly how I felt about X Ambassadors’ performance at Old National Centre last weekend. It wasn’t one thing in particular; it was the combination of great musicianship, relatable lyrics, and a whole bunch of people doing and sharing something they love. There was no moshing, surfing, or middle fingers in the air, but there was tremendous energy and an abundance of positive vibes from X Amba

Illenium Takes Indianapolis
Illenium comes to town and shakes it up! Wow what an event. It some ways this show was suited for an arena size venue. Deep grooves, melodic harmonies, monstrous guitars, extraordinary bass lines, fantastic singing. Personally I cant think of a better concert event than that. I was very impressed with Annika Wells. What a voice and what a stage presence. And as you can see the chemistry between Trevor Christensen and Annika was palpable and honestly refreshing, It's not often

Motionless in White Slays Final 2019 Trick or Treat Tour Stop in Indy with We Came as Romans, After
The Egyptian Room at Old National Centre Halloween is my favorite holiday, and Motionless in White (MIW) is one of my favorite bands to see live, so I was really psyched when I found out their Trick or Treat Tour was coming to Indy. I (as well over 1,000 other people who packed into the Egyptian Room) expected – and got – an incredible show! Detroit’s Twiztid got the night off to a great start with an angry, in-your-face set. Although their style of music is vastly different

Liily Old National Centre
After watching several videos and a documentary from Liily I almost felt like I knew them personally. On Tuesday night the band came on stage and you could feel that they were different than other up and coming bands. They had a stage presence of that of a much more established band. The lead singer Dylan Nash stood at the edge of the stage and glared out at the crowd. The fans screamed back up at him. He continued to stand there feeling the crowd out before he began to sing

An Interview With Liily
I was unable to meet up with the band in person or phone due to their busy touring schedule. The band was kind enough to answer my questions via email. • If I could have you all introduce yourself by name and your role in the band? If you answer any of the questions below individually could you please put your name or initials before the answer? Dylan Nash - Vocals Sam De La Torre - Guitar Charlie Anastasis - Bass Maxx Morando - Drums Maxx Morando will be answering al

Asking Alexandria at Farm Bureau Insurance Lawn at White River State Park 08 21 19
Despite technical difficulties that forced them to stop short in the middle of a song, Asking Alexandria performed a killer set in support of Papa Roach in Indianapolis on 08 21 19. They came on strong, opening with The Violence, and ended with a bang with Alone in a Room. Frontman Danny Wornop, along with the rest of the band, showed tremendous energy and passion throughout the set, and I was impressed with the way they kept their composure even when things went awry. #askin

Bad Wolves at Farm Bureau Insurance Lawn at White River State Park 08 21 19
Bad Wolves proved that good guys can rock hard at their kickass show in support of Papa Roach in Indianapolis on 08 21 19. In between leaps, head-banging and a few off-stage shenanigans, they shared their inspiring message that nobody is ever truly alone. Frontman Tommy Vext also assured concertgoers that they were part of the Bad Wolves pack, even if they felt as if nobody understood or cared about them. #BadWolves #paparoach #Audiophileoholic #Indianapolis #FarmBureauTheLaw

Papa Roach at Farm Bureau Insurance Lawn at White River Park, Indianapolis
Papa Roach came in hot at the Farm Bureau Insurance Lawn at White River Park Wednesday night, opening with Who Do You Trust, which is a banger and the band’s title cut from their latest album release. They continued rocking hard for the rest of the show, and although the pace slowed for a couple of songs, the intensity never let up during their 17-song set. Despite the heat and humidity, lead singer Jacoby Shaddix was energetic and charismatic throughout the set, speaking f

American Bombshell at Farm Bureau Insurance Lawn at White River Park, Indianapolis
Indianapolis-based American Bombshell wowed a hometown crowd when they opened for Skillet, Sevendust and Pop Evil last weekend. The five-piece band put on a well-rehearsed, energetic show and did a great job of getting the crowd pumped up for the other bands in the lineup. What impressed me most was how much fun the guys were having on the stage. Sure, there were the obligatory sneers and snarls (it was a rock show, after all), but there were also lots of grins. Throughout

Skillet Cooks Up Heavy Christian Rock at Farm Bureau Insurance Lawn at White River Park, Indianapoli
Christian rockers Skillet are known for their high-energy, passionate live performances, and their fans are known for their fierce loyalty. Last weekend I got to experience a Skillet concert for the first time, and I completely understand what the hype is all about. Their show was a first-rate production, complete with pyro, smoke, cannons, vivid graphics, and, of course, great music. Here are the highlights of their 14-song, powerful set: Lead singer John Cooper had a gr

Sevendust at Farm Bureau Insurance Lawn at White River Park, Indianapolis
Atlanta-based Sevendust, who is currently on the road with Skillet on their Victorious War tour, put on a fantastic show for an enthusiastic crowd last weekend in Indianapolis. It was my first time seeing Sevendust live, despite the fact that they’ve been making music and touring for the past 20 years. I have to say these guys were awesome, and I kinda wish I had seen them sooner! They were fun to watch, and lead singer Lajon Witherspoon connected with the audience in a hea

Pop Evil Wakes Lions at Farm Bureau Insurance Lawn at White River
I have a confession to make before I start this review: I’ve been a huge Pop Evil fan for years, and they were the first band I ever photographed from the photo pit. They’re also (mostly) from Michigan, my home state, so I definitely have a soft spot for them. That being said, I don’t think I’m being biased when I say they absolutely slayed last weekend at their show in support of Skillet and Sevendust. Pop Evil opened with the fast-paced, kick-ass hit, Boss’s Daughter. Dru

Behemoth Kicks Off Knotfest
Behemoth brought there extreme metal cargo onto the Ruoff Home Mortgage Stage Friday evening. Dazzling a frantic crowd with European black metal. The night just started as two more European bands were set to take the stage following Behemoth. Gojira and Volbeat were next in line. Then of course Slipknot closed the evening. This was a great opportunity to catch a few live acts that don't often make it onto major American stages. And they were highlighted with great efficiency

Slipknot Spiders Scary Things Knotfest 2019
Best to describe a Slipknot concert as a visual extravaganza! There is no lone star at this event. There a multiple talents traversing the stage. Highlighting an overwhelming sensory experience. Without a doubt I enjoy watching Mick Thomson work the stage or shall I say command the stage. He's uses his guitar wizardry to entrance the audience. Maybe it's the fact that I met #7 at NAMM a couple years back and as far as I could tell he ruled the room with merely his presence. C

Judah and the Lion Indianapolis
This was my 2nd time to see Judah and the Lion. I first saw them a few years ago when they opened up for Twenty One Pilots. The energy brought to the stage back then made me an instant fan. I had heard their song Suit and Jacket on Alt Nation but had no idea what to expect with a live show. Just as before they did not fail to put on an amazing show Friday night at Farm Bureau Lawn. You cannot help but jump around as they sing. They sang Say it Ain’t so by Blink 182 and had th

Getting to Know Jack Klatt: The Interview
A lot of times you have to catch a musician when they are on the road. I was able to get in touch with Jack Klatt for a quick phone interview when he arrived a few hours north of me in Chicago. It was after 10:00 PM and I did not want to keep him too long as it sounded as if he had been travelling all day. Michele: A lot of your songs you have a sort of an old soul feel. Do you feel like you connect better with a time when it was more about the love of making music and a l
