    The Clarks

This particular band stood out to me because their sound was unlike like anything else at the Festival. Of course all bands have their own feel and sound, but The Clarks were a bit country compared to the alt-rock bands that were taking the stage in the days prior. I am not usually a big fan of country, but their mix of an alt-country rock really got my attention. I am now a big fan of their particular sound. The lead singer Scott Blasey had a wonderful stage presence as he b

    Mesmerizing Poppy Bunbury Music Festival

Poppy took the stage and all of a sudden there were very loud screams coming from all directions. You could tell from the very first song their fans were there to bring the noise! Her see-through black bodysuit contrasted perfectly with her pure white hair. The guitarists were in all black jumpsuits and had silver painted faces with sleek black hair. It was obvious they were wanting to totally rock their looks. Each of them had a way of walking across stage effortlessly and g

    Hippocampus Old National Centre

When I think of high-energy bands, Hippo Campus isn’t exactly the first one that pops into my head. I consider their dreamy, synth-y sound to be pretty chill, so I didn’t expect a lot of on-stage antics when they performed at the Egyptian Room at Old National Centre. Imagine my surprise when when they bounced onto the stage amid dramatic lighting and struck the first notes of the title cut from their new album, “Bambi.” Although the song itself isn’t a real banger, lead vocal

    Point Of Know Return

Kansas “Point of Know Return” 40th Anniversary Tour at Old National Centre 11/11/18 After 40 years and over 6 million copies, Kansas’ “Point of Know Return” album remains an icon of progressive rock. To see and hear it performed live, in its entirety, is an amazing experience, and one which I wholeheartedly recommend! I was privileged to be part of the sold-out crowd when Kansas came to the Murat Theatre at Old National Centre in Indianapolis November 11. I wondered if I’d r

Mesmerizing Ghost Ritual at Old National Centre 10/30/18

I love Halloween, but I had a hard time getting into the spirit this year. That is, until I went to the Swedish cult-metal band Ghost’s concert at the Murat Theatre in Old National Centre. Although the sold-out show wasn’t Halloween-themed, there was definitely an occult-like vibe going vis-à-vis the concertgoers in goth costumes, the IV bags filled with a blood-red adult beverage, the misty, cathedral-themed stage setup, the masked and costumed band members, and the incredi

Five Finger Death Punch Delivers a Trick Before Treats

Ruoff Home Mortgage Music Center, August 31, 2018 Getting punked at a metal show? Oh, yeah, it happened at Ruoff Home Mortgage Music Center…and it was GREAT! Let me set the scene: Bad Wolves, Nothing More, and Breaking Benjamin had killed it all night long, with each set getting louder, longer, and more dramatic. By the time Five Finger Death Punch was set to take the stage, the crowd was seriously pumped. Then, the “Barney” theme song (5FDP’s signature intro song) began blar

    Shiny Penny

Well I must say I really didn't know Shiny Penny until Laura turned me on to them. I'm absolutely loving their EP Wait, Don't Hold. Wonderful tunes that remind me a bit of Maroon 5 mixed with Jamiroquai. Check out Laura's photos. #ShinyPenny #review #music #livemusic #band #concertphoto #concertphotography #Indianapolis #concertreview #gigphoto #rockphotography #popmusic #indie #Audiophileoholic

All Time Low Receives Adoration, Unmentionables

After spending an entire day at the Vans Warped Tour last month, I thought I was prepared for what I’d see at the All Time Low’s pop-punk show at the Old National Centre in Indianapolis on August 5th. I was wrong. I expected all the screaming fans, most of them female. I also anticipated the super-high energy level (and fans). What caught me off guard was the bra that suddenly flew onto the stage from the packed audience, soon to be joined by others. Although I found this ent

    Lynyrd Skynyrd Street Survivors

Lynyrd Skynyrd Street Survivors Farewell Tour 8/4/18 Ruoff Home Mortgage Music Center Noblesville, Indiana When I think of Southern Rock, one band immediately pops into mind: Lynyrd Skynyrd. I hate to use the word legendary too much, but this is one band that truly fits that description. Their pioneering style and relevant lyrics transcend genres and demographics, making them an integral thread in the fabric of American music. It goes without saying I was really excited to se

    Jamey Johnson Country Outlaw

Jamey Johnson Ruoff Home Mortgage Music Center 08 04 18 If you’re like me, you didn’t know who Jamey Johnson was before he opened for Lynyrd Skynyrd at Ruoff Home Mortgage Music Center, but you sure as hell did afterward. This burly, bearded man who looked like he’d be right at home running moonshine blew me away as he finessed his prized, autographed guitar and poured his soul into the microphone. Johnson kicked off the set with “High Cost of Living” and was joined on the st

    38 Special Reliving The Past

Ruoff Home Mortgage Music Center 08/04/18 You know that one song that helped you get through a rough patch in high school? Mine was 38 Specials’ “Hold on Loosely.” To say I was excited to see 38 Special again was a bit of an understatement – although it had been a hot minute since I’d seen them live, I was pretty confident they’d still put on an outstanding show in support of Lynyrd Skynyrd’s Farewell Tour. And I was right. They hit the ground running by opening with a high-e
