Yacht Rock Revue
Brown County Music Center
Saturday, February 10, 2024
Columbus, Indiana natives Nick Niespodziani and Peter Olson had a long-awaited homecoming with their Atlanta-based band, Yacht Rock Revue. Due to COVID-19 and bad weather, previous local performances had been canceled over the past couple of years. The Brown County Music Center was an outstanding venue for Yacht Rock. The venue has hosted some big names, including Johnny Depp’s Hollywood Vampires and Jeff Beck. It’s now safe to say Yacht Rock Revue is a big name, as they just announced they’ll be touring this summer with REO Speedwagon and Train and will stop at Ruoff Music Center in July.
If you’re not familiar with them, Yacht Rock Revue is a musical experience that transports audiences back to the signature-smooth melodies and nostalgic sounds of the late '70s and early '80s that define the yacht rock genre. Whether you’re a dedicated “anchorhead” fan wearing a captain’s hat like me, or if you’re just a fan of the genre, Yacht Rock Revue delivers an unforgettable experience that appeals to a wide age-range of music enthusiasts. I believe a key reason for their success that propelled them beyond a normal cover-band is they have a clear and definitive brand and they provide a consistent sound and experience they know audiences respond to.
Yes, it’s a gimmick, one that even took lead singer Nick Niespodziani a long time to comprehend. But, it works, it’s fun, so, hop on board for a journey through the smooth sounds of yesteryear, as Yacht Rock Revue is not just a band; it's an unforgettable voyage into the golden age of soft rock – with a promising horizon ahead.
