Evanescence gave a stunning performance Thursday night at Ruoff Music Center, which included hits dating back to the early 2000s. Celebrating 20+ years together, Evanescence also delivered exciting new music from the Sanctuary album that proved their talent has only gotten better.

The show had an overall dark, ominous theme that was broken up with neon lights and bright bursts of fire. Dramatic graphics, sophisticated lighting, and even confetti enhanced the mood of each song in a different way. This set was nothing short of spectacular as it went from heavy rock power ballads to a spotlight on the piano, giving us all the emotion and softness.

Frontwoman Amy Lee was simply incredible. She completely owned the stage, commanding respect with her strong, powerful stage presence and expressive body language. It felt as though she were singing from the bottom of her heart and soul to every member of the audience as she reigned over the packed amphitheater.

Lead guitarist Troy McLawhorn, guitarist Tim McCord, and drummer Will Hunt were sent up to the stars on scenic lifts during “Afterlife,” “Bring Me To Life,” “Who Will You Follow,” and “Wide Open Heart.” Bassist Emma Anzai harmonized beautifully with Amy Lee, giving so much depth to each song.

A special moment happened near the end of the set when supporting artists Courtney LaPlante from Spiritbox, along with Amy Love and Georgia South from Nova Twins walked the stage with Amy Lee during their single “Fight Like A Girl." The crowd went wild for this magical affirmation gothic girl power. These four ladies of metal turned up the heat (literally) and brought all eyes on them. This was definitely a “once in a lifetime” experience!

Evanescence continues the North American leg of their Sanctuary World Tour this weekend as they head to Pennsylvania and Michigan with Spiritbox and Nova Twins before making their way into Canada.
