Cheers erupt from a halo of country music fans encompassing the Notre Dame Stadium, most with an “iced cold beer that never broke their hearts” in hand. Luke Combs emerges from the stadium tunnel, high-fiving ecstatic fans as he makes his way to the stage.
Luke Comb’s 2026 “My Kind of Saturday Night” Tour spans from March 21st to August 2nd and covers North America and Europe. He made a stop in Indiana at the Notre Dame stadium on April 18th. His tour featured four openers including Dierks Bentley, Ty Myers, Jake Worthington, Thelma & James.
The air was “cold as you”, a frigid 40 degrees the whole night. Many fans were wrapped up blankets while cheering Combs on as he performed in a hoodie, khakis, and a Notre Dame baseball hat. Frequently throughout the show, fireworks would explode in beams of light in every corner of the stage while flames roared with heat and light.
Fans were “wishing upon a whiskey” to hear their favorite songs. It was rare to see someone without a red solo cup in hand. Country music fans were decked out in their favorite attire of jeans, flannels, cowboy boots and hats. Many younger fans braved the cold to wear their favorite short dresses paired with a jean jacket.
Combs generously rotated around the different stadium runways to make sure every fan got a good view. He made sure to walk around these different areas while singing his more fast paced songs. The stage itself even spun around, hitting every possible angle.
Towards the middle of the concert Combs performed his more down to earth acoustic songs including Wish Upon a Whiskey. During that time he talked about his three sons Tex, Beau, and Chet. He made a joke that the stadium was less stimulating than his living room.
Combs shocked fans by playing a total of three encore songs. This included Fast Car, Where the Wild Things Are, and Ain’t No Love in Oklahoma. He explained that Fast Car had a major influence on him wanting to learn guitar. During the last encore song, the support pillars of the stage created the image of a water tower, encompassing the iconic Twister movie vibe the song was in.
The concert wrapped up around 11pm, leaving most fans to “miss church on Sunday, and possibly even call in hungover on Monday”. Before Combs exited the stage, football players Jerome Bettis, Sam Hartman, Joe Alt, and Riley Leonard joined him and shotgunned beers together.
For Combs fans, this tour is truly what “memories are made of.” It was a redneck’s “kind of Saturday Night” all around from the beer to the cowboy hats.
