Liily Old National Centre
After watching several videos and a documentary from Liily I almost felt like I knew them personally. On Tuesday night the band came on stage and you could feel that they were different than other up and coming bands. They had a stage presence of that of a much more established band. The lead singer Dylan Nash stood at the edge of the stage and glared out at the crowd. The fans screamed back up at him. He continued to stand there feeling the crowd out before he began to sing

An Interview With Liily
I was unable to meet up with the band in person or phone due to their busy touring schedule. The band was kind enough to answer my questions via email. • If I could have you all introduce yourself by name and your role in the band? If you answer any of the questions below individually could you please put your name or initials before the answer? Dylan Nash - Vocals Sam De La Torre - Guitar Charlie Anastasis - Bass Maxx Morando - Drums Maxx Morando will be answering al

American Bombshell at Farm Bureau Insurance Lawn at White River Park, Indianapolis
Indianapolis-based American Bombshell wowed a hometown crowd when they opened for Skillet, Sevendust and Pop Evil last weekend. The five-piece band put on a well-rehearsed, energetic show and did a great job of getting the crowd pumped up for the other bands in the lineup. What impressed me most was how much fun the guys were having on the stage. Sure, there were the obligatory sneers and snarls (it was a rock show, after all), but there were also lots of grins. Throughout

Skillet Cooks Up Heavy Christian Rock at Farm Bureau Insurance Lawn at White River Park, Indianapoli
Christian rockers Skillet are known for their high-energy, passionate live performances, and their fans are known for their fierce loyalty. Last weekend I got to experience a Skillet concert for the first time, and I completely understand what the hype is all about. Their show was a first-rate production, complete with pyro, smoke, cannons, vivid graphics, and, of course, great music. Here are the highlights of their 14-song, powerful set: Lead singer John Cooper had a gr

Slipknot Spiders Scary Things Knotfest 2019
Best to describe a Slipknot concert as a visual extravaganza! There is no lone star at this event. There a multiple talents traversing the stage. Highlighting an overwhelming sensory experience. Without a doubt I enjoy watching Mick Thomson work the stage or shall I say command the stage. He's uses his guitar wizardry to entrance the audience. Maybe it's the fact that I met #7 at NAMM a couple years back and as far as I could tell he ruled the room with merely his presence. C

Judah and the Lion Indianapolis
This was my 2nd time to see Judah and the Lion. I first saw them a few years ago when they opened up for Twenty One Pilots. The energy brought to the stage back then made me an instant fan. I had heard their song Suit and Jacket on Alt Nation but had no idea what to expect with a live show. Just as before they did not fail to put on an amazing show Friday night at Farm Bureau Lawn. You cannot help but jump around as they sing. They sang Say it Ain’t so by Blink 182 and had th

Issues - The Egyptian Room at Old National Centre 08 08 19
Sometimes I joke around, saying, “My issues have issues,” but the band Issues certainly doesn’t have any problems when it comes to putting out great music. The Atlanta-based foursome put on a hard-hitting, kick-ass show at The Egyptian Room at Old National Thursday night, delighting fans and getting everyone pumped up for headliners I Prevail. It’s kind of hard to categorize Issues into a specific genre. Their eight-song set, which started with Hooligans, and ended with “Ma

Hyro the Hero at Rockstar Energy DISRUPT
Hyro the Hero opened the Rockstar Energy DISRUPT Festival at Ruoff Home Mortgage Music Center with a high-powered, kick-ass show that definitely woke up the audience. I’m not sure how he mustered so much energy so early in the day, but it was one of the most intense, athletic performances I’ve ever seen. I’m not talking about a few jumps and some dancing, either – he lunged, twirled, and stomped across the stage, scrambled up the lighting stands, and leaped over the heads of

Breaking Benjamin Musical Perfection
I thought I knew what to expect from Breaking Benjamin, having covered them last summer when they toured with Five Finger Death Punch. But I actually didn’t. Lead singer Ben Burnley has stepped up his game, and I was impressed. Burnley, who had seemed almost aloof last year (and in years past), was everything a good frontman should be: enthusiastic, confident, and, most importantly, engaging. He seemed happier and less angst-y than before, joking around and telling little sto

Chevelle Revs It Up
If I had to summarize Chevelle’s set in one sentence, I would say, “They make a hell of a lot of noise for just three guys.” The Chicago-based band have a sound that’s amazingly distinct, due largely to frontman Pete Loeffler’s growly vocals and grungy guitar riffs. But Dean Bernardini’s bass was growling right along with him, while drummer Sam Loeffler pounded the skins relentlessly throughout the set. Although Chevelle’s music wasn’t as fast-paced as Three Days Grace’s, the

Three Days Grace
Next up was Three Days Grace, the Canadian four-piece that’s been rocking out since 1997. Although I had seen them live a several years ago, seeing them from the photo pit with vocalist Matt Walst, who joined the band in 2013, was an entirely different experience. Walst one of the best frontmen I’ve seen in terms of interacting with the audience and getting them involved. He had a little something to say before every song, including a message about it never being too late to

Dorothy
Dorothy, a five-piece band from LA, had a vibe that was less metal and more blues, but rocked just as hard as the other bands on the lineup. Frontwoman Dorothy Martin’s raspy, sexy vocals brought to mind smoky bars, sweaty nights, while the band’s jam sessions were a blast to watch. Dorothy opened with Flawless and rocked and rolled through a great set which included my favorite tune, Raise Hell. #Dorothy #BreakingBenjamin #Diamante #AlternativePop #PopRock #hardrock #Audioph

Diamante Rocks The World
If you weren’t at the packed Ruoff Home Mortgage Music Center Tuesday night, you missed one helluva show! It was a night of solid, intense, hard rock with lots of attitude, killer riffs, exceptional musicianship, and some pyro thrown in for good measure. Diamante, the 22-year-old vocalist from Boston, was the first act of the night. She strode onto the stage wearing wickedly studded sunglasses and hat, her sapphire hair glowing in the stage lights. Opening with Bite My Kiss,

Greta Van Fleet review Bunbury Festival 2019
Just before Greta Van Fleet took the stage every light in the place went dark. Although I am still not sure if that was planned by the band or just a random coincidence at the park. Either way it was pretty badass and totally what a rock band would do. About 60 seconds after the total darkness the stage lit up and this powerful sound came across the Bunbury Festival grounds. I had just started to walk to the back to get a photo of the depth of the crowd when the music started

Shinedown at The Farm Bureau Insurance Lawn at White River State Park May 20, 2019 103.3 WOLT Mayday
I must confess, I have a hard time talking about Shinedown without fangirling. They became one of my very favorite bands the I first saw them perform live back around 2008. Sincce then, I’ve been to every concert they’ve given in Indy (plus a few in other areas), I’ve done the meet & greet thing, I have all their albums, including a couple of special-edition vinyls, I buy their merch, and I follow them on social media. They practice what they preach, they support each other a
